Hi! I’m Saskia Charlotte Long, a Media and Communication student at Bournemouth University in Dorset. You have obviously clicked on the little ‘about’ button because you’re curious to what this blog I have created is about, so let me tell you…
In this day and age, we seem to be moving totally away from all the traditional forms of journalism. Say goodbye to your pen and paper, and say hello to the interwebs! The internet, especially YouTube is full of content nowadays, anything to make you laugh, cry and jump for joy. However, because of this new rise in technology, and this new claim to fame given to what we now call ‘YouTubers’ is the content still real and genuine? Or are just posting anything online for the views or the money? The word ‘clickbait’ springs to mind here, and it been a word used by quite alot of people on the web over the course of 2016. It seems that ‘Youtubers’ are being paid so much nowadays, sometimes it looks like they just make content for the sake of it.
YouTube has also become a source of news, although with a rise of fake news on the website, are things being taken too far? Can we trust it as reliable or not?
Throughout this blog I will be digging in deeper to the depths of the YouTube/video making world. Vloggers, makeup gurus, YouTube personalities – who’s making the real good content out there?
Stay tuned for my blog posts.
