Recent Statistics
Ditch the Label is a large charity that works internationally helping young people overcome bullying. Tackling the impacts it has on their health, education, self-esteem and social behaviour. They believe that bullying is a societal issue that everyone has a part in playing. “Bullying is a learnt behaviour and we won’t stop until it’s over.” Below are six recent statistics (2016) that were collected from their research that was carried out in the United Kingdom. The data is collected from a collaboration of school and college students across the nation.
- 20% of children and young people indicate fear of cyber bullies making them reluctant to go to school
- 5% reported self-harm
- 3% reported an attempt of suicide as a direct result of cyber bullying
- Young people are found to be twice as likely to be bullied on Facebook as any other social networking site
- 28% of young people have reported incidents of cyber bullying on Twitter
- 26% of young people have reported incidents of cyber bullying on Ask.fm
