My name is Sam Kersey, and I am a student of Communication and Media at Bournemouth University.
I am creating this blog to investigate the shortage in leisure time faced by Brits in an era of austerity, and discover ways in which digital technology can help us make the most of our free hours.
I feel this is an important issue because, as recent research shows, people here in the UK feel overworked and undervalued for their time.
More workers than ever are opting out of the maximum 48 hours per week enforced by the European Time Directive in order to make ends meet.
This means leisure time is in short supply, and must be made the most out of in order to enjoy a high quality of life.
Expect to see regular updates which delve into the intriguing world of:
•Mobile applications which claim they can make us more productive with our time
•People who build their perfect holiday within their budget using tools available free of charge online
•How people use digital reviews to assess the worthiness of real world activities
Plus many more issues related to Britain’s relentless pursuit of leisure which is making a storm on digital platforms.
