Beauty=Wealth or Wealth=Beauty?

January 21, 2017 by daniscattergood 2 Comments

All through our lives we are constantly exposed to the rich and famous lifestyles of the celebrities in this world, and this is either shown to us through the use of magazines, social media, newspapers or even the news. Either way, we seem to know more about how much money they make or have more than our own parents! But most of the time, our favourite celebs didn’t always have the most lavish lifestyles or flawless features, most of them even started out looking and living like you and me. So this just makes me wonder, is it beauty that made them rich? Or was it being rich that made them beautiful? And looking at most cases I can honestly tell you that without all that money, they would grow up looking the way they do now. Now let me show you why…

Khloe Kardashian Before and After (2007-2015)

Khloe Kardashian for example, the transformation she had in 8 years was not all natural, and I’m not saying that she didn’t work her ass off to look the way she does now but a lot of it is solely down to the fact that she has money and was therefore able to afford the best of the best. She paid for the best celebrity trainers, nutritionists (Dr Philip Goglia), dermatologists (Christie Kidd) and stylists, which she uses to help others now on her new TV show, ‘Revenge Body’. With her extraordinary transformation she used her pro helpers to help others gain their own individual flawless figures as well. But let’s be honest, there is only so much she can do. Each contestant only gets 12 weeks and after that how are they meant to carry on affording the best trainers and nutritionists like she does? And from the pictures on the left you can tell that her transformation didn’t come without any ‘help’ if you know what I mean.

Bella Hadid and Kylie Jenner before and after lip filler injections

Khloe isn’t the only Kardashian/Jenner to use certain ‘tools’ to help her along on her way to become beautiful. Kendall and Kylie Jenner have both had face injections to help with their acne in the past, and Kendall still struggles with acne now. It’s also not hard to guess that Kylie and Bella Hadid have also had their lips pumped with lip filler injections, and considering Bella is now a Victoria Secret Model it seems that wealth does make you beautiful. Kylie at first attempted to deny the injections for quite a while but admitted to it a few months later, saying her reasons for lying was due to fear of backlash from the media. Being under the spotlight 24/7 must be a burden and does seem to take its toll on some celebs. Nevertheless, celebrities do have an enormous advantage with their wealth, as at the end of the day, money can buy you beauty.

This is probably one of the reasons as to why a large population of young women continue to spend money on expensive make-up brands such as Mac, Armani, Benefit, Bobbi Brown, Estee Lauder and Tom Ford, as they see the examples that celebs like the Kardashians set for us, and somehow we buy into the idea that if we buy expensive make-up too, our skin will look as clear as theirs. But this is a false reality. They do cheat and use medicines and drugs to look the way they do therefore we can not compete with them, because at the end of the day… Wealth does equal beauty, and if not it sure does help!

I’m not ugly, I’m just poor

This a quote that has been used to caption memes and GIF’s all over social media as people are finally coming to the realisation that celebrities do and can afford to change the way they look, where as we can’t. Imagine if they all weren’t rich and they never got any work done, it would be impossible to know what they would look like now without all the ‘help’ they have received. And by getting all their imperfections fixed, this just shows the world that they too have insecurities but they just have the power and money to fix it.

A meme on Twitter of Rihanna showing that wealth = beauty

Most of the Kardashians even have their own app’s where people have to pay monthly to get the insights to their lives and beauty secrets… And by showcasing these impossibly unrealistic standards over the web and mobile communication devices, like social media and their apps, it has had negative effects on the young people who look up to them, as some people honestly believe they are only naturally beautiful.

This blog continues to question the "perfect" lifestyle and image that celebrities, and ordinary people like you and me try to present to us. It also explores the idea that perfection doesn't actually exist, and its actually a meaningless term as we can never truly label ourselves as perfect.
