About

Just a bit about me…

Hello, my name is Chloe Gay. I am 19 years old, and I am a keen Communication & Media student. I am originally from Ascot in Berkshire.

I am now living in sunny Bournemouth as I study at the University there. This blog has been made as part of my Web & Mobile Communication unit, and will explore the topic of how social media can affect mental health, especially in young teenagers.

Because of my age, I suppose I do fall into the ‘social media obsession’ craze, whether it be on the new different Snapchat filters, scrolling for hours down my Facebook or Twitter timelines, or uploading many photos on to my Instagram profile. However, some of the younger generation may take this new obsession to the extreme.

My blog is about the obsession with social media, and how social media has an impact on a daily life basis. This is a common spoken about topic in the world today as it is slowly becoming a well known issue that is causing many problems for millions of people. Social media is taking over all of our lives, and changing people and their attitudes for the worst. This blog explores the technological developments, the social changes and how this has had an impact on mental health in our society today.

Each post will focus on a different topic of the negative effects of social media, I will briefly discuss the positive effect of social media as I know there are some, and some of these positives can be easily linked in.

I hope you find my blog interesting and insightful to read!

I would appreciate any comments or feedback along the way too.

Enjoy reading!
