Thinking caps at the ready.
Thinking caps at the ready.

As of now, right now, the world has me questioning; whether or not, my life as a black female means any less than that of a white female. Why would i think this? I hear you ask. [Read more…] about Welcome Curious Minds.

About Me

The Girl Behind the Blog

I am a 20-year-old Black British female, currently studying Communications and Media at University. As a black female, the propaganda I see across the media surrounding black lives causes me to question the society that I live in. However, as a media student I know to take everything I see online, on my phone and that the media promotes and covers, with a pinch of salt. I want to help identify just how biased our opinions are to the BLM movement, as a consequence of relying on the media and the internet.

Is there more to the movement than what we see online or on our phones. Does the news or the internet accurately represent or relay the facts to society or do we receive a biased opinion, do we receive any opinion at all?

Recently Netflix have made available The Fresh Prince of Bel Air series. I sat laughing my socks off re-watching some of the funniest episodes starring Will Smith. Although we mainly remember the show for its wit, entertainment and banter. Every once in a while the show would touch on important issues. [Read more…] about Is The Fresh Prince still Fresh?

The Inside Scoop: Exclusive Interview

“Hands Up, Don’t Shoot”

On the 13th January 2017, I met with Black Lives Matter activist Crystal McFarlane. I was lucky enough to grab a small coffee with Crystal and to discuss her participation in the black lives matter march. The march took place on the 8th July 2016 in London. Crystal was one of the hundred participants that gathered to march on Westminster. Together they marched in protest at the shooting of two black males by police in America.
