Welcome to Saving The Selfie Generation

So, how many times a day do you check your social media accounts?

Once? Twice? More times than you can remember?

As a generation, we are seemingly OBSESSED with all platforms of communication. Interaction with friends, family, and people we don’t even know, can happen at all hours of the day, wherever in the world we may be.

The enhancements of technology, with smartphones and laptops, has made it incredibly easy for us to be in contact with the entire world at a click of a button. Social Media can help promote societal issues, and get people involved with all aspects of the world around us. We can see news stories appear as they are happening and have live minute to minute updates at a click of a button.

My name is Caitlin, i’m a 20 year old student at Bournemouth University, and i will admit it. I myself am a social media junkie.

I can’t go a day without checking my Snapchat stories, or seeing who’s uploaded what on Instagram, or who’s said what on Twitter.

But recently I’ve started to notice how maybe, just maybe, we are no longer using the internet and social media for good?

‘Saving The Selfie Generation’ will hopefully give you an eye opening look on the media constructed world around us, and give you some tips and insights on how you can stop looking like an idiot online, and become social media savvy instead.
