As discussed in previous posts, social media sites are having a huge effect on peoples’ body image. Approximately 91% of women aren’t happy with their bodies, while only 5% of women naturally have the body type promoted across the media. These kinds of figures are extremely worrying. But they are also the symptoms of a society hooked on social media.
I’ve covered the ways you can beat the Instagram cycle, discussed various people who are fighting the effect of social media, and even recommended some better accounts to follow. Now I have created an infographic to help pave your way to a more positive body image. Take a look at the steps below…
How will this help?
Body image is closely linked to self esteem. These are both areas of your mental health that need to be looked after. Although body image doesn’t seem like a big deal, the consequences of negative body image are. Low body image or self esteem can lead to depression, eating disorders, and self-harm among other things. The way you view yourself can also have a huge impact on other areas of your life. For example, if you see yourself as less intelligent than others, you might not be as confident and may miss out on the job you had an interview for. Or if you play down your skills then you might not get the opportunity to make use of them. So, these 10 steps will not only help you feel better about yourself, but will also help you lead a happier, healthier life.
