Past the Point of No Return"},"content":{"rendered":"<h3><span style=\"color: #50b7bf\">Is there a line when it comes to going under the knife?\u00a0<\/span><\/h3>\n<p>There are\u00a0countless celebrities who undergo surgery each day. Many flying under the radar having menial nip-and-tucks here and there that me and you aren&#8217;t even aware of. But sometimes celebrities just can&#8217;t help themselves and go a little too far. One procedure goes wrong and BAM! Stuck in the constant cycle of trying to correct their ruined appearance. Lots of these extreme botched procedures and altered appearances provoke\u00a0extremely negative responses from an online social media audience.<\/p>\n<p>An example that I&#8217;m sure many of you will be aware of is Pete Burns. He was\u00a0known for his openness about his surgery mishaps, and spoke\u00a0freely about undergoing over <a href=\"http:\/\/www.mirror.co.uk\/tv\/tv-news\/pete-burns-reveals-hes-300-8829910\">300 operations <\/a>in order to fix his botched surgeries. Despite the vast amount of time times he had been under the knife he still continued to state how he &#8220;was in love with his appearance\u00a0&#8221; yet somehow also felt &#8220;just like Frankenstein&#8221;. A confusing paradox from the deceased singer.<\/p>\n<h6 style=\"text-align: center\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-208 size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/www.blog.buprojects.uk\/2016-2017\/lucybryce\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/29\/2017\/01\/Pete-Burns-2.jpg\" alt=\"pete burns\" width=\"750\" height=\"500\" \/><span style=\"color: #808080\">(Pete Burns &#8211; before and after)\u00a0<\/span><\/h6>\n<p>Before his recent,\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.mirror.co.uk\/3am\/celebrity-news\/one-last-pictures-pete-burns-9118598\">tragic death in October 2016<\/a>\u00a0due to a heart attack, he appeared on the <em>Channel 5 show <a href=\"https:\/\/www.my5.tv\/celebrity-botched-up-bodies\/season-2\/episode-1\">&#8220;Celebrity Botched Up Bodies&#8221;<\/a>. \u00a0<\/em>Botched is a popular documentary TV show that interviews celebrity personalities that have either had countless surgeries (and gone too far away from what now may be perceived as a &#8216;normal&#8217; alteration) or had surgeries that have gone wrong and had\u00a0drastic consequences.<\/p>\n<p>Here is a trailer for the latest series\u00a0of the show:<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"620\" height=\"349\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/ZldIn-xM9Aw?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000\">On the show, Pete stated that\u00a0he first got plastic surgery 20 years ago, when his single <em>&#8220;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=PGNiXGX2nLU\">You Spin Me Round&#8221;<\/a><\/em> became a success. Then proceeding with four nose jobs, cheekbone implants and countless alterations to his lips.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>His rise t<span style=\"color: #000000\">o fame and consciousness of his appearance in the public eye provoked his first nose job (as it was crooked due to being broken in a previous year).<\/span>\u00a0Speaking of his first procedure, he shared: \u201cI realised I was going to be a visual entity and that I had to look good.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhen you\u2019re young, self-conscious and standing in front of a camera and the photographers are whispering, \u2018Can we turn his head to the left?\u2019 you think, \u2018I\u2019ll do something about it\u2019.\u201d<\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #50b7bf\">When things don&#8217;t go as planned:\u00a0<\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000\">He then underwent a rhinoplasty to fix it! But the procedure went wrong&#8230; He told Channel 5 how he &#8220;woke up covered in blood. There was so much blood it was unbelievable&#8221;.\u201cHe\u2019d removed most of my nose and there was just two nostrils and a little bit of bone in the middle. I nearly fainted.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000\">The star then underwent more surgery to attempt to fix that cosmetic failure, where he claims &#8211; that it was just the first of &#8220;probably 300&#8221;. Pete states that the\u00a0&#8220;amount of surgeries I\u2019ve had are absolutely minimal compared to the reconstructive surgeries I\u2019ve had&#8221;. A very worrying thought that brings into question the addictiveness of cosmetic alterations. \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<div class=\"outer\">\n<h6 class=\"mod-image\" style=\"text-align: center\"><span style=\"color: #ff0000\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-240 aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/www.blog.buprojects.uk\/2016-2017\/lucybryce\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/29\/2017\/01\/pete-burns-lips--300x225.jpg\" alt=\"pete burns lips\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" \/><\/span><span class=\"caption\" style=\"color: #808080\">(Pete Burns lips- \u00a0Channel 5\u2019s Celebrity Botched Up Bodies)<\/span><\/h6>\n<\/div>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000\">On the show he also recalled the time he was performing on stage and realised there was a problem with his lip fillers. He then went back to the surgeon to get excess fluid drained.\u00a0<\/span>\u201cAt least a pint and a half of yellow steaming fluid was vomited out of the lip.\u201d (An unsightly thought that makes me feel faint thinking about it).<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ff0000\"><span style=\"color: #000000\">To make the situation worse,\u00a0Pete said the filler started spreading to the rest of his face, leaving holes in his skin which would ooze yellow fluid. He successfully managed to sue the surgeon for \u00a3450,000 in an out of court settlement after the infection spread to rest of his body with his lips possibly requiring amputation.<\/span> <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000\">Reliving the horrific ordeal, he explained: \u201cI\u2019ve had a major operation a week for two years to remove it from my cheeks where it had migrated, my Adam\u2019s apple, the back of my eyes\u2026They couldn\u2019t do anything about the liver and the kidneys. I had to excrete that out.&#8221;<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #50b7bf\">From bad to worse:\u00a0<\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000\">The signer discussed how he became clinically depressed and how the ordeal drained him of two years worth of his life. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000\">Things continued to dramatically declined for\u00a0Pete as he\u00a0developed blood clots and pulmonary embolisms in his\u00a0legs, heart and lungs.\u201cI got these black marks on my skin and I thought they were bruises. The next thing my driver came in and I was unconscious, not breathing.&#8221;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000\">He was rushed to hospital and told that he had less than two per cent chance of survival! He\u00a0was put on blood thinners and after 10 days, doctors managed to save him.\u00a0But despite his brush with death, Pete was undeterred, stating\u00a0\u201cWhat I\u2019m trying to achieve with my surgery is my own personal satisfaction. It\u2019s narcissism at its extreme.&#8221;<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #50b7bf\">When societal pressures become too much:<\/span><\/h3>\n<p>Why do celebrities succumb to the pressures of striving for perfection? Especially when the situations they put themselves in are so life-threatening!<\/p>\n<p>Many people are unaware of the pressures put on celebrities to look good. The attempts that they put themselves through to achieve this &#8216;perfection&#8217; are extremely dangerous and as you can see, sometimes life threatening. Yet, the public chose to ignore this fact (or may even not be aware) but are extremely quick to judge and ridicule. Pete Burns is often used at the &#8216;butt&#8217; of a joke and is seen frequently tweeted about on Twitter.
