Just a little introduction, GAME OVER is written by myself, Sophie. I am 20 years of age and currently doing a degree at Bournemouth University, I am a second-year student on the course Media and Communications. I am oh so obsessed with travelling and always planning my next adventure. Coming from London, Bournemouth was different, to say the very least. I’ve always had a very busy and vibrant lifestyle and love the urban life! So let’s just say living in Bournemouth isn’t really my cup of tea. But of course, i’ve met some incredible people and have to stay for at least another year!
One of my assignments this term was to create a blog for the module ‘Web and Mobile Communications’ in which I must cover specific social issues that have been impacted by the use of technology and the internet.
On to the blog…
I will be focusing on Gaming addiction and the ways various games have massively contributed to the rise in this particular issue. I also hope to be identifying what can be done to help those who are already affected and prevention measures, to begin with.
Expect to see the analysis of
- What a gaming addiction actually is, and why it is on the rise.
- What actually makes a game so addictive, and what games are currently the most addictive.
- The suggested link between violence and video games, along with the consequences.
- The various treatment options available, how an addict can seek help.
