As a result, the population is <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tuc.org.uk\/international-issues\/europe\/workplace-issues\/work-life-balance\/15-cent-increase-people-working-more\">working more hours<\/a> to make ends meet.<\/p>\n<p>For many, free time is a scarce and precious resource which they\u00a0don&#8217;t want to waste. Spending leisure\u00a0time having\u00a0satisfying experiences is important to those wanting to feel the benefit of a healthy <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/small-business-network\/2016\/jun\/27\/improve-work-life-balance-tips-stress\">work life balance<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h2>Reading reviews can improve the quality of leisure time<\/h2>\n<p>Anyone connected to the internet can easily rate a place or activity they have taken part in. This helps people to choose accommodation that suits their individual needs.<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Such a widespread variety of opinions on activities and accommodation did not exist in the pre internet era. Instead, the\u00a0opinions of friends\/family or the possibly biased recommendations of travel agents were the main basis of knowledge on the best places to go.<\/p>\n<h2>Reviews hold leisure\u00a0providers accountable and improve their services<\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">\u00a0Sometimes, an experience which was supposed to provide an enjoyable break can turn unexpectedly sour. In this case, people can make a complaint publicly via review platforms.\u00a0Consider, for example, the negative Tripadvisor review for a restaurant below, which outlined an important health and hygiene issue:<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-254\" src=\"http:\/\/www.blog.buprojects.uk\/2016-2017\/samuelkersey\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/68\/2017\/01\/food-poisoning.png\" alt=\"Review Food Poisoning\" width=\"445\" height=\"246\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.blog.buprojects.uk\/2016-2017\/samuelkersey\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/68\/2017\/01\/food-poisoning.png 445w, https:\/\/www.blog.buprojects.uk\/2016-2017\/samuelkersey\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/68\/2017\/01\/food-poisoning-300x166.png 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 445px) 100vw, 445px\" \/><br \/>\nReaders of this review can\u00a0see\u00a0that the author posts frequently and is highly &#8216;ranked&#8217; by the Tripadvisor team. This gives an element of trustworthiness to her comments. Undoubtedly, the situation she describes acts as somewhat of a red flag for others who may have considered spending their time and money on the restaurant in question. Though the resteraunt does currently retain a 3.5\/5 rating overall from customers, they will have to strive to keep this promise now that a claim of food poisoning is publicly available.<\/p>\n<p>This system of public &#8216;shaming&#8217; may seem a little cutthroat at times. However, the ability to understand how other people feel about various places\u00a0and leisure activities is empowering..
