Is Selena breaking girl code?
Following images surfacing of Singers Selena Gomez and The Weeknd kissing just two months after The Weeknd’s break up with model Bella Hadid, all hell broke out. the result of this being, Selena Gomez has received an incredible amount of hate where she has been called a snake (amongst other things). This puts into question girl code. Why is Selena receiving hate and not The Weeknd?
The Weeknd’s and Bella’s break up was already in the spotlight due to the unfortunate timing of it. The Weeknd was due to perform at The Victoria Secret fashion show in December where Bella was modelling. However I applaud them for their mature encounter on the catwalk so recently after their split. Not exactly the most typical place to bump into your ex…
but just as the heat was starting to die off, these images surfaced of The Weeknd kissing singer Selena Gomez, queue internet meltdown.

The internet turned completely on Selena Gomez, commenting on her Instagram photos, tweeting her calling her a ‘snake’ or a ‘slag’ and yet did she actually do anything wrong? Abel (The Weeknd) and Bella had been broken up for two months. I don’t think she deserved the ‘Bella’s better than you’ ‘Bella’s prettier etc. Theres no reason to pit two girls against each other in relation to a guy.
The problem people had with Selena was that she shouldn’t have taken her friends ex (Bella and Selena are both part of Taylor Swifts ‘squad’). But why are people only attacking Selena and not Abel? Shouldn’t he have the respect for Bella not to go with one of her friends?
So why is it always the other girl that gets hate? There are two people in this new relationship and yet only one is being attacked. Forget girl code, what about ex boyfriend code?

To add fuel to this fire, people have remembered that Abel has said he has always had a ‘thing’ for Selena and supposedly spoke about her in one of his songs. In his song ‘Party Monster’ he says ”Like Selena, ass shaped like Selena.” If that is a reference to Selena Gomez, it’s not the most respectful as it was officially released when Bella and Abel were still together…
