One of the first (and most important) steps to take as a fame hungry user of Instagram, is deciding what subject your Instagram is going to be on. Yes, we’d all like to believe\u00a0that\u00a0our perfectly filtered selfies and holiday sunset shots are enough to gain a decent following on the platform; however if you are shooting for the hall of Instafame, a little more thought into your profile is needed.<\/p>\n

Profiles are much more likely to gain a fan base\u00a0if they have a direct subject, making them almost like a visual blog, encouraging others with similar interests to follow.\u00a0Take the example used in my last blog post (Insta-celebrities: Who are they and what do they do?<\/a>) of Kayla Itsines, she clearly has what we’ll call a Gym Profile. While she does have the occasional personal shot of herself in a bikini looking like a Greek goddess on holiday, the rest of her photos follow a trend. Motivational quotes, before and after shots of women who have used her workout plan, pictures of colourful and healthy foods:<\/p>\n

However if you’re not all that into sweating yourself to death for a popular Insta-profile, here are some other examples of popular types of pages to opt for.<\/p>\n

The Fashion\/Makeup Blogger<\/strong><\/h6>\n

This is a profile type that has soared in popularity over the last 5 years, with hundreds of fame hungry girls and boys jumping on the bandwagon of advertising products. But hey – if it gets you where you want to be, why not! Pictures consist of highly perfected selfies, either close up face shots to show off that sparkly new highlighter, or full body shots of an entire outfit with online shops and their Insta-pages tagged. These categories are possibly the most successful on Instagram due to the fact they integrate so easily, a fashionista’s profile can easily post a makeup tutorial video and vice versa. One of the best examples of this profile is Sarah Ashcroft<\/a>, with 625k followers and links to her blog,\u00a0www.thatpommiegirl.com<\/a>, she has taken the fashion & makeup Instagram by storm.<\/p>\n
