Leafy Dreams is a blog written by myself, Ella. I am a curly haired coffee drinker studying a Communication and Media degree at Bournemouth university. I am a second-year student who migrated from London to the Coast last year. My God was it a change, but I’ve met some of the funniest people and have quite a few stories to tell.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Besides the life of partying at uni, I do have work. And yes- the jump from first year to second year is big. But for the moment I feel like I have it all under control. (do you? do you really Ella?) My biggest hate in life is Harvard referencing. Harvard referencing you are the bane of my uni existence.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

One of my \u00a0units this year requires us to create a blog. Sooo… here we are.\u00a0Leafy Dreams.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The module I am studying is “Web and mobile communication”.\u00a0<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0My\u00a0blog posts have to cover a specific societal issue impacted by the use of the internet and as an open feminist and #BlackLivesMatter activist, the subjects I will be exploring shall delve beyond a surface review of current issues.<\/span><\/p>\n

I am of the belief the internet is affecting the way we communicate and by a lack of communication how can any conflict resolve? The internet has changed the way people relate to each other, we live in a society obsessed with Instagram likes and twitter fav’s. But at the end of the day, who are we even impressing? Is the internet constructing our identities? Why do we present these identities online? Who are we conforming to? Why are we constantly \u00a0judging, analysing critiquing someone else’s flaws?<\/span><\/p>\n

Let’s discuss the impact of social media on our identities.<\/span><\/p>\n

If you’ve ever watched a Black Mirror episode you’ll get my gist. The internet is a scary sphere. \u00a0A scary yet magical sphere, that has drawn my attention to social issues I wasn’t even aware of.<\/span><\/p>\n
