For this post, I have decided to do something different and actually recorded a bit of audio with two of my fellow bloggers. So we sat down for the afternoon to\u00a0discuss whitewashed Hollywood films. I know this is a bit of a topic change, compared to what I&#8217;ve been writing before, which is more about colourism. Colourism and whitewashing are being clearly distinguished by me on my blog and are not the same issues!<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Why talk about it?<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>I chose to talk about this subject\u00a0because recently there have been so much stir around this issue\u00a0after the\u00a0<em>Great Wall<\/em>\u00a0was released and Tilda Swinton replacing a Tibet monk in\u00a0<em>Doctor Strange<\/em>\u00a0plus Scarlett Johansson portraying a Japanese anime character.<em>\u00a0<\/em>However, Asian characters being replaced by a white actor\/actress is not a seasonal thing.\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/slideshow\/2016\/04\/22\/opinion\/whitewashing-a-long-history\/s\/chow-ss-slide-HTTQ.html\">Whitewashing has been happening throughout history<\/a>.
