However I want to focus my attention on some positive aspects online communication has brought to our society, that we sometimes forget about.<\/p>\n<p><a class=\"zem_slink\" title=\"Social media\" href=\"http:\/\/www.wikinvest.com\/concept\/Social_media\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"wikinvest\">Social Media<\/a> can be addictive , <a href=\"http:\/\/www.blog.buprojects.uk\/2016-2017\/annavaliante\/2016\/12\/21\/world-social-media\/\" target=\"_blank\">as my first blog post <\/a>examines, but it has reshaped , for instance,\u00a0the way we spread information around the globe. From national tragedies (ex: terrorist attacks, war crimes, someone&#8217;s death) to random events ( see:\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.telegraph.co.uk\/news\/2016\/09\/21\/brangelina-break-up-sends-twitter-into-meltdown\/\" target=\"_blank\">#Brangelina break-up sends Twitter into meltdown<\/a>), the internet capture everyone&#8217;s attention and bring people together to discuss and share the opinions on the matter.<\/p>\n<p>Social Media break down the internet reaching everyone faster than any other way of communication.<\/p>\n<p>When Osama Bin Laden had been killed, \u00a0to break the news\u00a0was Barack Obama at late night. Yet most of Twitter users who were active online that night, were already informed of the situation thanks to the popular and powerful Social Media. For instance, Donald Trump&#8217;s quote &#8220;If I were to run, I\u2019d run as a Republican. They\u2019re the dumbest group of voters in the country. They believe anything on Fox News. I could lie and they\u2019d still eat it up. I bet my numbers would be terrific.\u201d was widely shared, yet completely fake. The same false news as the one saying that the pope had endorsed Donald Trump (he didn\u2019t). The internet has become vital\u00a0for debates and is now news media outlet. Then I can&#8217;t stop asking myself \u00a0if people actually read the articles before sharing, or if they just base their ideas on the headline.<\/p>\n<p>62% of US adults now turn to social media for some or all of their news, according to the <a class=\"u-underline\" href=\"http:\/\/www.journalism.org\/2016\/05\/26\/news-use-across-social-media-platforms-2016\/\" data-link-name=\"in body link\">Pew Research Centre<\/a>.\u00a0But do they verify the information they gain?<\/p>\n<p>What are your thoughts and opinions?<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Whether the development of technology has been beneficial or not is an existing discussion that can have different answers.
