About the Author:
Hi everyone, welcome to my blog! My name is Shannon Landers. I’m an undergraduate student studying Communication and Media at Bournemouth University. My blog will focus on the impact of social media addiction and its surrounding issues.
As a social network user, I wanted to cover this topic because social media has become such a popular aspect of modern day society. This means it could affect any of us.
For me, learning about people’s personal experiences with addiction to social media highlights the seriousness of the issue. Just by hearing what happened and how they went downhill so quickly shows how dangerous social media addictions can be.
It really hits home seeing how addiction can actually impact our lives. Especially when you realise we are exposed to these sites on a daily basis and use them so frequently.
We are often so absorbed in sites like Facebook and Twitter by what they have to offer. But, it’s scary to see just how easy it is to become addicted, sometimes without even realising.
It’s time for us to become more aware and do something about it.
About the Blog:
This blog will cover the global impact of social media addiction and a range of concerns arising from the issue. I will be looking at how addiction can affect aspects of our lives such as:
- Health (Physical and Mental)
- Human interaction
- work and education
- Hobbies and other interests
- Self perception.
I will also cover the impact web and communications has had on the issue, looking at both the positives and negatives. On another note, it’s important to also address how to either avoid or overcome this issue. My blogs will also reveal ways to do this.
Be sure to follow my posts as I explore these issues in more detail. If you want to keep updated with my blog and learn even more about the issue, check out my Facebook and Twitter Pages.
