As the content of this blog focuses on the subject of mental health, the tone will remain serious and sensitive to those will mental illnesses. The content on this blog is firstly for educational use at Bournemouth University, but secondly for personal use, since I am passionate about fighting the stigma of mental health.
The posts here at Fighting The Stigma will be written with sufferers of mental illnesses in mind and will not poke fun or discriminate against mental health illnesses. I am in favour of encouraging the awareness of mental health and being a sufferer of a mental illness myself, I know exactly how it feels to be stigmatised. Whilst I do suffer from a mental illness, I am not an expert in the field.
Posts may include content that has been created by other people who speak about mental health in an unmindful and stigmatising way, which you may find upsetting or triggering. However, I will discuss this content written by others in a way to help emphasise how the mental health stigma, very disappointingly, continues to exist.
Some content created by other people may include swear words. I will not swear to voice my opinion on certain issues on this blog. The swear words present on this blog will be from where I have referenced other people who have sworn when speaking about mental health in a stigmatising way. Where swear words are present in writing, certain characters will be starred (*) in order to keep this blog as inoffensive as possible. In the case of videos, I cannot mute the swear words or cut them out effectively, so these swear words will be heard as normal when playing a video. Where I feel that content could potentially be offensive or triggering, I will include a warning within posts including this type of content.
