Internet or no internet, people have always and will always suffer with their body confidence. Whether this means ‘too fat’ or ‘to skinny’, you are your own harshest critic and that needs to change!
Here are our top 10 tips on boosting your body confidence:
5. Food is fuel
What many people fail to understand is the importance of food is not only to keep you going physically but mentally as well – food affects mood! For example everyone knows chocolate is the no.1 cure to instantly put you in a good mood don’t they? Well there’s a reason you’ll get through a whole 7 boxes after a breakup. Now I’m not saying eat bars of chocolate to make you feel better about your body but there’s no benefits of cutting food out either. Research shows certain food groups such as carbs prompt the release of serotonin in the brain (the chemical that makes us happy), and low carbs diets just make causes you to lose energy, making you even less likely to exercise. So don’t skip meals to make you feel more body confident – eat your happiness!
4. Go All Out
Dress to impress, it’s never too much! Without quoting Gok Wan too much.. it’s all about the confidence, and when you look good you feel good. If your boobs are your best asset then go with it! Don’t be afraid to wear a low cut top, it’s your body. Scared to wear heels because you think you’re too tall? Think ‘model height’. Truth is the more you stand out the more complimented you’ll get, and complements from others are always a confidence boost.
3. Know The Bloat

What many people fail to understand is your body changes throughout the day. Its a scientific fact that you WILL be heavier in the evening than you are in the morning and there are many different factors that may cause you to bloat – this doesn’t mean you have fallen off the wagon! Don’t believe bloating can make that much difference? Read Tiffany Brien’s story (picture above), a fitness blogger who’s shared images of her bloated stomach just 12 hours apart. Bloating can be down to a number of things: Stress, IBS, hormones, food intolerances, and it does necessarily mean you’ve eaten something ‘bad’. Think you suffer from bad bloating? Find out here what may be causing it and how to prevent it.
2. Give Yourself Credit
This ones important. Instead of constantly focusing on the negative things you don’t like about yourself, make a list of all the positive things you do like about yourself. It doesn’t necessarily have to be all appearance based things, think deeper than whats on the surface. Feeling good about yourself for who you are a person will make you feel so much more confident than if you focus purely on the physical things, but that body confidence will come in turn when you love yourself inside as well. Don’t shy away from saying things you like about yourself, its not vain its healthy for the mind to be positive. Embrace the attributes you like about yourself and focus on them until you look in the mirror and they overshadow any negative things you previously saw.
1. Stop Comparing Yourself To Others!
I know its easier said than done but comparing yourself to others is never going to help you! Fact is 90% of the ‘beauty’ you see online is photoshopped, filtered and has the perfectly positioned lighting helping it along – it’s not real! You need to remember everyone posts the side of them they want others to see, so don’t compare your ‘no makeup morning face’ to someones ‘ready for a night out’ face, everyone’s got their flaws, you just don’t always get to see them. It’s an unfair fact of life that your friend may life off a diet of fast food and cookies and stay thin as a pole, and you may feel like you put on 20lbs from just breathing around a chocolate, but these are DIFFERENCES they make us unique. Odds are that skinny friend is jealous of you for having curves. Once you learn to love your body, you will radiate confidence and that’s the most attractive thing a girl can show.
