To start off, I’ll give a bit of an introduction of myself.
My name is Clara Zhijin, I’m a 20 year old Communication Media student at Bournemouth University.
I’m a Swiss-born Chinese and grew up in Zurich for the first part of my life and lived in Shanghai for my second half.
As a person with a cross-cultural background I’ve noticed how people from different cultures have various social and cultural interpretations of skin colours.
On my blog I’ll be focusing on the social and cultural meaning of skin colours, how people from different countries perceive it. Also I will focus on how the Internet and social media influence colourism.
Furthermore, I will use this blog to raise awareness on whitewashing of Asian characters and how social media influences it.
