Social media platforms with no facilities to deal with cyber bullying are facilitators of cyber bullying. Facilitating crime is a crime.
Hi guys,
This week i’m really pushing for recognition. I’ve created a video to try to promote some of the dangers of cyber bullying. There are some harrowing statistics throughout the video. Have a look here.
This week i’ve also been looking a lot at the suicide rates from things like bullying, it’s really horrible to see that bullying can lead someone to taking their own life. As you will see in the video bullying is one of the leading reasons given for people taking their lives. I don’t think people quite understand the severity of it, I certainly didn’t.
If any of you are having suicidal thoughts please let someone know, try to keep away from any technology that the bullies might be able to contact you on. There are things that people can do that will help you.
Ditch the Label
After my last post where I talked about the Ditch the Label page I have also been looking further into their blogging. I wanted to see what they suggest doing to overcome the bullying. I have been looking to see what some of the guys on there did and some of their ways were quite interesting. One of the first blog posts I read was from a man called Ian; he said that while he was at school he was bullied and as he got older he found comfort in talking about his experiences. He now tells everyone and anyone about his experiences with bullying.
As well as the successful stories there were also a few that ended not so well. In one of the blog posts a YouTube star was interviewed. She talks about her experiences and thoughts surrounding cyber bullying. She mentions not being able to stick up for herself when she was in school which she found really hard and as a result meant that the last resort was to move schools. When there were no more school to run to she had to be home schooled. It’s a really interesting article you can read and watch the whole thing here: Eugenia Cooney.
So have a watch of the video I made and have a look at Eugenia’s video. I think you guys will find it quite interesting!
Speak to you soon!
